Just to confuse the narrative, this is not an iguana. This is a Sally Lightfoot crab being awesome on Bachas Beach, Santa Cruz. The Galapagos land iguana, surveying his domain onDragon’s Hill, Santa Cruz.
Thebrightly coloured land iguanas are the males. As you can see, this shade of yellow is almost as attractive as Furperson orange.
The mighty marine iguana of Punta Espinoza, Fernandina. According to our guide, the collective noun for a bunch of iguanas is amess. Furperson thinks a ‘lounge’ is better. Or a ‘slightly ponky sprawl’.
And now, the marine moment you’ve all been waiting for:
Good grazing off the coast of Fernandina. Green sea turtle, which apparently has right of way in all intersections. Behold, Godzilla!
Next stop: Isabela and (fingers crossed) giant tortoises! However, my humans have a wine tasting prior to this afternoon’s shore excursion. I wouldn’t count on pin-sharp focus in tomorrow’s photos. Or a coherent narrative.
